The SSI Diver Stress and Rescue specialty program teaches you the skills you need to protect yourself and other divers. You will learn how to identify stress, how to prevent accidents and be taught practical techniques to conduct rescues and provide emergency care. With a combination of pool and open water practice sessions, you will become well prepared and confident at handling emergency and rescue situations. Upon completion, you will earn the SSI Diver Stress and Rescue Specialty certification.
Prerequisites
- You must be certified as an SSI Open water diver or equivalent
- You must hold current First Aid, CPR and Oxygen Provider certification by an recognized authority. These courses can be conducted onsite at Dive Swansea (at an additional cost)
- Be a minimum of 18 years old (15 years with parental consent)
- You must be medically fit for diving
- All participants must complete a medical declaration form before before this course. If any questions on the medical declaration are answered "Yes", you may need to gain medical clearance from a doctor before participating in this course. Please contact us if you have any questions about this
Why complete the Stress & Rescue Diver Course?
The Rescue Diver Course is perfect for those who want to be the safest and most prepared diver they can be when it comes to preventing and responding to diving emergencies. This course is also a prerequisite for divers wishing to complete the professional level courses such as Divemaster.
Please note, the Stress & Rescue Diver Course is designed to be physically and mentally demanding in its content, conduct and method, and requires students to be put in realistic conditions in emergency situations.
Exclusions.
Full scuba kit is required and can be organised through the store prior to starting your course.
Safety sausage- SMB , Slate , can be purchased in store.
Upon finishing this course, you will become more aware of potential dangers underwater, becoming a confident diver in the process.
Courses normally run on weekends and or can be arranged with notice during the week.
Schedule.
Saturday - 8.30 am meet in store with your instructor , Final exam , equipment requirements and then off to the pool for most of the day.
You'll return back to the store around 4:pm
Sunday - 8.am to 4pm complete all open water exercises and then back to the store for graduation.
